The silk pashmina shawls are the finest blend of 70% pashmina wool, and 30% silk. The silk is added for strength and it also adds a bit of weight and a shimmer thereby attaining a perfect combination of finesse and elegance in the shawl. Each of these silk pashmina shawls also known as kashmir shawls is hand-woven by skilled craftsmen from the Himalayan kingdom of Nepal that take many man-hours to complete. From the combing of the goat to collecting the fur, through hand weaving, dying and finishing the entire process of producing these silk pashmina shawls is extremely meticulous thereby creating each of these pashmina shawls / kashmir shawls individually.
All of the silk pashmina shawls we sell are 2 ply. This means one fibre is wound around another one before the cloth is woven. The most common question that customers ask me is 'which is better 70/30 or 100%?'
Here are the main advantages of each:
- The 70% Cashmere / 30% Silk items look nicer, and hang nicer due to the tighter weave and the slight shimmer of the silk. They feel slightly smoother to stroke.
-
- The 100% Pure Cashmere Pashminas are about 30% lighter weight, but equally warm as the silk mix pashminas. They also look more woolly, and are softer in terms of squeeziness than the 70/30 pashminas.
